Since 2001, you’ve been able to take a boat tour through the Eilandspolder. Along the way, skipper Piet van Marle (a former geography teacher) will tell you about the origins and history of the peat meadow area, the land divisions, management practices, vegetation, birds, and the history of the surrounding villages.

The KaasSloep offers various boat tours in Alkmaar and the surrounding polder area, where you can enjoy a snack and a drink. During the tour, the skipper will tell you about the history of Alkmaar. You’ll receive some great photos of the trip. Group size is limited to 5–6 people.
The KaasSloep operates from June through August.
