In July and August on Tuesdays, during the evening cheese market, open until 21:00.
Public holidays: The Alkmaar Store / VVV is open during Easter, Ascension Day, and Pentecost. Closed at Christmas, on New Year’s Day, and on King’s Day.
Alkmaar Souvenirs and Gifts
Looking for a special keepsake from Alkmaar? At the spacious shop on the Waagplein, you’ll find a wide selection of Alkmaar souvenirs, regional products, and gift vouchers. You can also purchase tickets for the canal cruise, the Dutch Cheese Museum, and the Municipal Museum. In addition to souvenirs and tickets, there’s also a broad range of publications about Alkmaar and the surrounding region, such as the Alkmaar City Walk.

You can buy the AlkmaarPas 2023 in our store for €15, valid for the entire year. Can’t make it to the shop? The AlkmaarPas is also available online.
With the AlkmaarPas, you’ll receive discounts at many shops, restaurants, museums, and attractions in Alkmaar and the surrounding area. The card also comes with standard credits, including a free cinema ticket, free entry to the swimming pool and ice rink, and credit for Theater De Vest.
At the Alkmaar Store / VVV you’ll also get a 10% discount on souvenirs when showing your pass. Plus, you can buy the Alkmaar city walk booklet for €2.50 (instead of the regular €3.50).

The Alkmaar Store is fully wheelchair accessible and holds the Dutch accessibility quality mark awarded by Ongehinderd.nl. The store has been assessed on aspects including wheelchair space, counter heights and the accessibility of the entrances.
The entrances are step-free, and the aisles provide enough space to move comfortably around the store. Products are displayed at various heights, and our mobile payment terminals allow visitors to pay at a convenient location and height.
