For families with children, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is definitely worth a visit and a nice place to spend an afternoon. In the exciting exhibition 'Victory! The Siege of Alkmaar in 1573' you will be taken into the battle for the city. Also experience the seven exciting weeks of the siege of Alkmaar! Or visit 'Portrait of Alkmaar', a contemporary, playful and interactive presentation of the city's history in a nutshell. Tip: there is a special family ticket for families and family tours are offered during the holidays. You can also tour the museum by means of an art case with assignments. On the 1st floor, the highlights from the museum's Bergen School collection are displayed, in combination with special loans from museum and private collections. In addition, there are beautiful luminist and cubist landscapes and still lifes from the period prior to the Bergen School. A representative picture is sketched of the history of the origins of North Holland expressionism. In our museum café you can enjoy fair trade coffee, lunch dishes inspired by the collection, a glass of wine or Alkmaar beer. The museum shop has a rich assortment of books, luxury gifts and postcards. The café and shop are free of charge.
