Bewonder Het Grote Raam en andere schatten

De Grote Kerk Alkmaar is not only an impressive monument, but also a place full of stories and special art. During a visit, you can admire, among other things, the two antique, still playable organs, the vault painting Het Laatste Oordeel and the imposing artwork Het Grote Raam by Fiona Tan.

In the church, you can find a permanent exhibition with specially designed walls, digital screens and display cases. Here you will discover more about the history of the church and the artworks that can be seen there. The exhibition is available in Dutch and English.

For families, there is the free VerhalenVangers-tour. With a tablet, you go on a voyage of discovery through the church and carry out interactive assignments. Discover, for example, what Beyoncé sounds like on a carillon, meet the power woman of Alkmaar and learn more about the dogs of Floris V. A playful way to discover the history and special stories of the Grote Kerk.

Opening hours

From the autumn, the Grote Kerk is open to visitors on a number of (Sun)days from 10:00 to 17:00. Admission is free. Always check the current opening hours and any exceptions before your visit.
